Now, no I'm not making a makeup tutorial, we all know that there are too many of those on Youtube, and yes I'm subscribed to many of them. But I did want to showcase three looks I typically revert to like 80% of the time. Ready? Oh and btw, my hair is in flat twist, so they're wrapped up, don't judge.
First up is my natural/nude look. For this one I'm also going to show how I fix up the rest of my face, eyebrows, foundation, contour (I employ reverse contouring, mostly because my skin color is dark), blush, bronzer, highlights....etc But before everything, moisturize!!! Then base with a primer on the face, and one for eyelids and lips,
Step 1 - The Brows
I always always always start with my eyebrows, then eyeshadow/liner/mascara, then the rest. Eek! I look like a hungry chipmunk! I like to shape with a pencil, the fill with a brow gel. I then outline with a foundation about one shade lighter than my skin. Then blend! Blend the brows so that it fades in and aren't boxy.
Next I'm going to apply the shadow! I used a bronze cream shadow to coat my lids and my bottom water line. I used a tan/cream cream shadow to go under my brows and in my tear duct. I then put a light brown shadow on my lid, blending up into my crease. I finished with a dark brown along the outer eye, a single swoop of eyeliner and a single coat of a lengthening mascara.
We start with simply dusting on your foundation with a brush or beauty blender. Then I use a concealer and highlight the main zones, under eye, bridge of nose, forehead, chin and cupid's bow. I also reverse contour below the cheek to give it definition. Then blend!! Sensing a theme here??
For this look, I used lilac as a base, a pale purple as a highlight, and a dark smokey purple to cover my whole lid. I then used my black gel liner to coat about 2/3 of my lid, then blended it upwards towards the crease. I then went in with a regular purple and went over my crease with it. I winged out my eye with the black gel liner though since everything is so dark, it's hard to see that. I finally put some liner on my lower lash line, a few coats of mascara and blended it out to finish the overall smokiness. I finished with a pale pink lip.
This one is a classic. I put a nude brown over my lid, a cream as a highlight under my brow and at my tear duct. I then used a burgundy/brown color as a sharp crease line, only blending upwards. I dipped my bronze eyeliner in a little concealer and lined my lower lash line. l I finished with a dramatic winged liner, big lashes and bold red lips. Tip - apply a little finishing powder to the lips to matte-ify them You can see I had a little fun with Rosie the Riveter....
